Second Annual WPIAL Scholarship Fund Golf Outing Set for June 19, 2023

Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) announced Thursday that the second annual WPIAL Scholarship Fund Golf Outing will be held on Monday, June 19, 2023 at Cedarbrook Golf Course.

The inaugural event was held this past June and proved to be a major success, helping raise $40,000 for the WPIAL Scholarship Fund. The WPIAL Scholarship Fund was created to award scholarships annually to student-athletes from schools and school districts comprising Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) District VII. Since 1992, the league has given $698,000 in scholarships to its WPIAL/James Collins Scholar-Athlete Award recipients, and will celebrate the 32nd consecutive year of the award program in 2023.

The golf outing will begin with an 11:00 a.m. shotgun start, lunch at the turn, and buffet dinner following completion. There will also be silent auction items available to bid on both online prior to the event and at the course. Last year’s silent auction prizes included golf foursomes to 16 different local courses, Pittsburgh Steelers tickets, as well as autographed memorabilia from former and current players on the Steelers, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Pittsburgh Pirates.

Price per golfer is $125, and that includes 18 holes, the cart, lunch, buffet dinner, and refreshments on the golf course.
