PIAA Boys’ Basketball Champions
The Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) has crowned champions in boys’ basketball since 1920. Each classification champion from the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) and additional teams have qualified for the PIAA Championships since their inception, with PIAA District VII claiming a total of 85 state champions in the sport.
The WPIAL has produced multiple PIAA boys’ basketball champions 18 times, with a record three coming in 1992, 1995, and 2004. A total of 19 different WPIAL schools have won multiple PIAA titles, with Farrell’s seven being the most in league history. The other schools who have won two or more are: Aliquippa (5), Midland (5), Beaver Falls (4), Blackhawk (4), Irwin (4), Uniontown (4), Duquesne (3), Homestead (3), Lincoln Park (3), Sewickley Academy (3), Wampum (3), McKeesport (2), Moon (2), Monessen (2), Our Lady of Sacred Heart (2), Shady Side Academy (2), Sto-Rox (2), and Washington (2).
