Established during the 2021-2022 academic year, the WPIAL Sportsmanship Shoutout recognizes student-athletes and teams that demonstrate exceptional sportsmanship characteristics during a season, whether it’s a player that makes sacrifices for the team or an opponent who consistently demonstrates sportsmanship throughout a contest. Recipients are nominated by member schools’ coaches and athletic directors, as well as officials, and receive recognition on the WPIAL website and social media platforms with the reasoning for their nomination, as well as a certificate of achievement from the WPIAL office.
