WPIAL Reveals 2023 Boys’ & Girls’ Lacrosse Championships Brackets

Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) announced its brackets for the WPIAL/UPMC Sports Medicine Boys’ Lacrosse Championships on Thursday afternoon, with all four championship games and the 2A third-place consolation games set to be held on May 24-25 at Joe Walton Stadium on the campus of Robert Morris University.

Teams qualify for the postseason by finishing in the top six of their sections. If ties cannot be broken for a qualifier spot, then every team within that tie will qualify for the postseason. Postseason competition begins on Monday, May 15 with 2A boys’ lacrosse and 3A girls’ lacrosse.

In boys’ lacrosse, Peters Township (7-0) won the Section I title in 3A and North Allegheny (7-0) captured Section II gold. The 2A classification saw South Fayette (10-0) win Section I and Mars (10-0) take Section II.

In girls’ lacrosse, Mt. Lebanon (8-0) led Section I and Pine-Richland (9-0) reigned in Section II. Plum (11-0) captured the Section I title in 2A, and Mars (11-0) topped Section II.

The top three teams in the 2A classification and the top two teams in the 3A classification will earn qualification into the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) Boys’ & Girls’ Lacrosse Championships, which are set to begin on Tuesday, June 6 and conclude on Saturday, June 17 at Panzer Stadium on the campus of Penn State University.
