WPIAL Reveals 2022 Girls’ Volleyball Championships Brackets

Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) has announced its WPIAL Girls’ Volleyball Championships brackets, with championship matches set to be held at the UPMC Events Center on the campus of Robert Morris University on Saturday, November 5.

Teams qualify for the postseason by finishing in the top four of their respective sections in each classification following the regular season. Postseason play begins on Monday, October 24 with pigtail matches in the 2A and 3A classifications.

North Allegheny (16-0, 8-0) and Penn-Trafford (10-4, 7-1) claimed outright section crowns in 4A, while Canon-McMillan (11-5, 9-1) and Peters Township (12-4, 9-1) shared the Section II title. In 3A, the section champions are Greater Latrobe (16-0, 12-0), Hampton (18-0, 12-0), Montour (11-4, 9-3), North Catholic (15-1, 12-0), and Thomas Jefferson (15-1, 14-0).

Avonworth (13-3, 13-1), Brownsville (17-1, 15-1), Freeport (16-2, 14-0), Shenango (13-1, 13-1), and South Park (16-0, 14-0) captured section championships in 2A. In 1A, Bishop Canevin (15-5, 11-1), Frazier (18-0, 14-0), Serra Catholic (15-1, 12-0), and Union (16-0, 12-0) were named section champions.

The top four teams in the 2A and 3A classifications, the top three teams in 1A, and the top two teams in 4A will earn qualification into the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) Girls’ Volleyball Championships, which are set to begin on Tuesday, November 8 and conclude on Saturday, November 19 at Cumberland Valley High School.
