WPIAL Reveals 2022 Girls’ Tennis Team Championships Brackets

Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) has announced its WPIAL Girls’ Tennis Team Championships brackets, with both championship matches set to be held at the Janet L. Swanson Tennis Center on the campus of Washington & Jefferson College on Wednesday, Oct. 19.
The top four teams in each 3A section and the top three teams in each 2A section earned qualification into their respective classification’s bracket. The 3A bracket begins play on Monday, Oct. 10, and the 2A bracket starts on Tuesday, Oct. 11. The higher seeded team will host in the first and quarterfinal rounds – unless otherwise noted – and the semifinals will be played at neutral sites.
Section champions in 3A include Franklin Regional (8-0), Mt. Lebanon (7-0), North Allegheny (6-0), and Shady Side Academy (7-0). The section winners in 2A are Indiana (7-0), Knoch (5-0), Montour (6-0), Sewickley Academy (6-0), and South Park (6-0).

The top three teams in each classification will earn qualification into the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) Team Championships, which are set to begin on Tuesday, Oct. 25 and conclude at Hershey Racquet Club on Oct. 28-29.
