WPIAL Releases 2022 Field Hockey Championships Brackets

Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) has revealed its WPIAL Field Hockey Championships brackets, with championship matches set to be held at Cameron Stadium on the campus of Washington & Jefferson College on Saturday, October 29.

Teams qualify for the postseason by finishing in the top four of their respective classifications following the regular season. Postseason play begins with the semifinals on Thursday, October 27 at the top seeds’ home sites.

Pine-Richland (12-0-0, 36 pts.) earned the 3A section title, Penn-Trafford (7-1-0, 21 pts.) captured the 2A section crown, and The Ellis School (6-0-0, 18 pts.) won the 1A section championship.

The WPIAL champion in each classification will earn qualification into the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) Field Hockey Championships, which are set to begin on Tuesday, November 8 and conclude on Saturday, November 19 at Cumberland Valley High School.
